What does the qualification cover?
This qualification provides the opportunity to develop an understanding of different perspectives of death and dying, and the impact it has on individuals. It covers the aims and principles of end of life care, communication factors and how to access a range of support services in end of life care.
Who is it suitable for?
It is appropriate for those who have already achieved a Level 2 qualification in health and social care and are looking to develop their knowledge in this area. This could include workers in hospices, care homes, care in the community and primary care.
As a taster qualification, it can also be used as CPD across all levels. This makes it ideal for anyone who may need an understanding of this subject even though they are not directly involved in the care of individuals.
What are the entry requirements?
Learners must be 16+ years old.
What are the start dates?
This course can be started at any point of the year and sessions will be arranged with the learner. If you are making a group booking, sessions to suit the learners can be arranged at their place of work.
How many credits are required to complete it?
To achieve this qualification, you must achieve 3 credits from 1 mandatory unit.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include compiling a portfolio of evidence, a task set by us or by an assignment.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
No, as it is a knowledge only qualification.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in 3 months or less.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
The Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England or other related End of Life Care qualifications.

What is the cost of this qualification?
This qualification costs £45. If you are an adult social care agency you may be able to claim back the full cost of this course through the Workforce Development Fund.
