Fundamental Care Training is a national care training organisation that focuses on getting the training right for your individual organisation.
Our company aims to provide personalised training courses in areas including health and safety and manual handling to more specialised courses such as venepuncture and phlebotomy. We can offer one of courses or provide a personalised service which identifies a company’s need and creates and organises the training programme. Our staff have years of experience in training and care work behind them.Meet our Trainers Jane Clancy and Eiran O’Connell…
Hello I’m Jane, I qualified as a registered general nurse in 1985. Over the next 16 years I went on to nurse in a variety of roles and locations including Community Staff Nurse in Harrow and Brent, and ward assignments in various hospitals including Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy, Northwick Park NHS hospital and The Garden and Clementine Churchill private hospitals.
I moved into working in social services and became the over all manager of the Care Attendant and Homecare service as well as manager of the sheltered housing schemes for London Borough of Harrow and manager of the Community Alarm Service for both Brent and Harrow. I was also Harrow’s representative on the pan London emergency disaster planning team as well as working closely with HR and the contracts team within the borough of Harrow.
I moved across to the private sector and managed part of the homecare services for two national homecare providers before becoming the co-founder of a London based Care Agency 11 years ago, which I have been involved in running until early 2017.
I have kept myself up to date with required skills including, but not limited to acquiring a Diploma in Management (2001), Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement and Level 4 Certificate in Internal Quality Achievement, Return to Nursing Practice (2009), regular refresher training in Moving and Handling People, Challenging behaviour, First Aid, Safeguarding, Mental Capacity, DoLS, Clinical Skills including Venepuncture and Catheterisation, knowledge of Legislative changes and Industry Best Practice.
I have been developing and delivering training for over 30 years and it has always been one of the most satisfying elements of my roles.
Throughout my work history I have always provided support and developed and delivered person centred learning training focused on delivering real change in care and health care worker attitudes, creating inclusion, equality and openness for service users and their carers, whatever their needs.
My broad range of experience and knowledge of the care industry as well as health care issues means that I have developed an ability to tailor the training to support the differing learning abilities and backgrounds of the attendees, as well as being up to date on current legislation.
Following the success of the training delivered within my homecare company, as verified by CQC, I decided to set up this dedicated training company in early 2016.
Hello, I am Eiran, the Head of Training and Development. Education and learning is something that I am passionate about as a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Education (2009) and a Masters in Education (2012).
I worked as a qualified teacher for 6 years, leading a department and taking on whole school responsibilities before I enjoyed a role in qualification development with a leading awarding organisation.
I have 13 years of experience in the Adult Social Care industry, working for a number of companies in admin roles and as a care worker before I became the Training Manager for the new company that Jane began in 2006, working there for 10 years. When I began working with Janet I was the only trainer, as the company grew so did my role, from training and developing, to managing and reviewing. During my time at the company I used my teacher training and experience of education to develop the training department into an exceptional team of 5 trainers with a highly regarded (by CQC) training program, that catered for 200 employees and a constant recruitment process.
I plan thorough assessment opportunities, tailored to different learning styles in an engaging way. I maintain current knowledge of the industry by keeping well read of updates from appropriate organisations, groups and individuals. I also regularly attend training sessions to refresh my knowledge, recently these have included, End of Life Care, Safeguarding, DoLS and qualifications such as Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement and Level 4 Certificate in Internal Quality Achievement.
You can have confidence in us as training providers because our core team has the practical, hands on experience of setting up and running a successful Homecare company, based in central London, for the past 10 years. We understand the issues and obstacles involved in working in Health and Social Care.
